Kids' Summer Holidays
The Bluebell Railway has plenty on offer this Summer to entertain the whole family!
Service one will operate throughout the school holidays with trains on the hour from 11.00am - 4.00pm from Sheffield Park. Tickets can be brought on the day from any of our stations. Alternatively you can take advantage of our Bluebell Bonus tickets which offer huge discounts on travel when booked at least 8 days in advance of your travel date. At Sheffield Park Station there is plenty to see and do either before or after your travel. The Bluebell Railway shop offers a huge selection of delights and souvenirs to remember your visit. Next to the shop is our "Bessemer Arms" restaurant which offers a wide range of delicious food from a main meal to sandwiches and sweet treats. The Engine Sheds are positioned at the end of platform one with all our engines on display which are not in steam. Don't forget to cross over to platform two and admire our recently refurbished museum containing a wide range of historical artefacts and interactional material to engage and interest all ages.
Horsted Keynes Station is the middle point of the line. The biggest of all the stations with 5 platforms it is well worth a visit. There is a small buffet serving a selection of hot and cold snacks and tea/coffee/soft drinks. The carriage works on platform 5 offer an insight into the history of our rolling stock and the restoration projects that the Bluebell Railway are undertaking.
Kingscote Station is the northern end of the line. The smallest of all our stations it has a pretty picnic area to watch the trains arrive and depart. Situated only minutes from East Grinstead you can take the 473 bus into this traditional market town.
Our Children's August Fun Days run on every Wednesday & Friday and also the Bank Holiday Weekend 27th - 29th. Punch & Judy Shows are on Wednesdays - 11.30am, 12.30pm, 1.30pm & 2.30pm. Magic Shows are on Fridays - 11.30am, 12.30pm, 1.30pm, & 2.30pm.
There is plenty of parking at both Sheffield Park Station and Horsted Keynes. There is no parking at Kingscote. Visitors arriving from East Grinstead can take the 473 metrobus to Kingscote and travel South to Sheffield Park.
All three of our stations have picnic areas, alternatively food and drink can be eaten on the train.
