Vintage Trains Weekend
Vintage Trains Weekend expands upon the planned South East & Chatham Railway Gala and will utilise the Bluebell Railway’ s vintage carriages and steam locomotives.
This weekend will see the first operation of our restored South East and Chatham Railway birdcage brake carriage number 3363 built in 1910 and which has just been restored to its Southern Railway condition by volunteers of the carriage and wagon department over the past 8 years.

In addition, our Wealden Rambler afternoon tea service will operate on Saturday afternoon and the Golden Arrow Pullman on Sunday afternoon
Special Attractions:
The Atlantic House will be open each day from 10am until 4pm to view the progress on our “new” steam locomotive being built to the design of the former London Brighton and South Coast Railway Atlantic class locomotives.
Carriage and Wagon Workshop Tours will take place on Saturday and Sunday lunch times at Horsted Keynes Station.
473 Bus service will operate to its standard timetable all three days between East Grinstead and Kingscote.
Brake van rides behind locomotive number 55 at Horsted Keynes station down part of the old Ardingly branch in a Southern Railway goods brake van (supplement £3.00. Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th November only.
Friday 4th November will be our connoisseurs day. Trains will operate with three small train sets of the Metropolitan coaches, 4 wheeled Victorian coaches and the Southern Compartment coaches as well as a goods train. Locomotives on this day will be from our collection of South East and Chatham Railway locomotives.
