The Bluebell Railway’s Vintage Transport Weekend was held at our 1930’s restored Horsted Keynes Station during 13-14 August 2011.
Over 100 exhibitors displayed their steam traction engines, classic and vintage cars, motorcycles, commercial vans and stationary engines.
In the afternoon, trophies were awarded for some of the best exhibits and the Bluebell Railway’s brass band played in the rally field which helped to create the perfect nostalgic atmosphere.
Our famous steam locomotive No.323 “Bluebell” and “Queen Mary” Brake Van transported visitors along a short stretch of the former Ardingly branchline.
Behind-the-scenes tours of the Carriage & Wagon workshops were exceptionally popular, giving visitors a rare look at the detailed work that goes on to restore our award-winning carriages to their former glory.
Our Victorian train service hauled seven of our oldest carriages, dating from the 1880s-1900s, along the length of our 9-mile line throughout both days.
Ticket revenues were up £6,000 compared to last year’s event, and we would like to thank all exhibitors and visitors for helping us to make it such a special weekend.

Next year's event will take place on the 11th & 12th August 2012. Put it in your diary now!
