Hastings DEMU visits Bluebell – Saturday 17 May 2025
In addition to HDL’s incoming DEMU tour from Hastings, we had three steam trains in service too.
Daniel Sawyer’s photo shows the Hastings DEMU at Holywell.
Alfie Thomas’ photos show the DEMU (right and below), as well as 32424 ‘Beachy Head’ at the former Town House Farm Bridge with the vintage set and 73082 Camelot with the other service train.
Nick Gilliam’s photos below show SECR O1 No.65 climbing Freshfield bank with the 12.30 ‘Golden Arrow’ from Sheffield Park, and 73082 approaching Horsted Keynes with the 10.30 from Sheffield Park.

Brian Lacey provides these three photos, all taken at West Hoathly last weekend.
On the right, SECR No.65 hauls the lunchtime Pullman Dining train, and ‘Camelot’ heads north from the tunnel.
Below we see ‘Beachy Head’ with the LNWR Observation Car at the head of the 12:45 down train from East Grinstead train about to enter the tunnel, which still has smoke emerging from it after the previous northbound service 20 minutes earlier.
