Model Towns and Villages

Model Towns and Villages – In Britain… In Public … In All Weathers.

Brian Salter is one of those lucky souls who retains a lifelong Interest In a particular theme – the aesthetic and historic appeal of toys and models alongside their real life counterparts. Childhood Visits to Beckonscot only fuelled the passion, a passion that later lead to various related diversions alongside a ‘normal’ life. Despite the story on page 79, Model Towns and Villages were in a bit of a wilderness until more recent years when the renewed ability to travel made the prospect of this work even more attractive. There is absolutely no substitute for meeting the people and the places involved first hand. Only one attraction in the extant list Gazetteer has escaped this ‘honour’, and many more folks besides have been only too happy to relate their stories, including the odd gem best left out of print (for a while at least). Perhaps needless to say, the investigations continue on a number of fronts, some quite obscure.

Brian Salter, 2014. Hardback, 132 pages.
