This year’s Bluebell Railway Diesel Gala will be held over the weekend 23rd-25th March.
Three locomotives have been confirmed:-
Class 45 45041 owned by Peak Locomotive Company Ltd
Class 46 D182 also owned by Peak Locomotive Company Ltd
Class 31 31271 owned by A1A Locomotives Ltd
None of these fantastic locos have ever hauled passenger trains on The Bluebell Railway and so the opportunity for a trip through the Sussex countryside to ride behind them will be well worth a visit .
Timetables are being finalised and will be available here soon :-
The weekend will include
3 day intensive operating service with 3 x 6 car sets
Brake Van rides at HK during the day.
12 car set running Friday and Saturday late afternoon
Saturday evening train and sausage and mash in the Bessemer Arms
Brake Van Rides
Enjoy a return journey along the whole length of the line between Sheffield Park and East Grinstead Stations aboard brake van 56290 . Built at Ashford in 1936 this was wagon was one of many built by Southern Railways and were much larger than the norm and quickly gained the nickname ‘Queen Mary’. The journey takes around one and three quarter hours and included in the price is a bacon butty that can be collected from the Bessemer Arms either before or after the trip. Don’t miss the chance to book one of these trips. Please note: tickets for the brake van ride are not valid for use to travel on other trains during the day and a separate ticket will be required.
