We bring road steam and rail steam together for a weekend of enjoyment and interest, suitable for all ages!
Saturday 15th – Sunday 16th June 2019
‘Road meets Rail’ – Working steam festival!
Step back in time for a weekend of steam powered demonstrations and vintage fairground fun. Traction engines, road rollers, steam wagons, showman’s engines and more… bringing Horsted Keynes station to life with recreations of a bygone age.
See how road building, wood sawing, timber haulage and lifting were carried out in the early 1900s
Experience fairground rides powered by a Showman’s engine!
Watch as deliveries are made to the station by steam wagons, traction engine and pantechnicon (large furniture vans)
Steam hauled passenger trains, brake van rides and a freight train passing through the station amid the activity!
Don’t forget it’s Father’s Day on the Sunday – bring your dad (grandad too) for a fantastically steam-filled day out. Our beer tent in the paddock will be serving a range of Sussex ales to keep everyone refreshed. Book online today to get your dad’s day (or your day!) sorted.
And if you fancy dressing up for the event, feel free to don some 1920’s gear and immerse yourself fully in the vintage atmosphere of the weekend. We’ll be keeping an eye out for the best outfits…
