Drainage and pavement work
With curbing and fence work complete on the west side, work has started on the east side opposite the entrance to OP4. There is a culvert which runs under the road and the headwall needed rebuilding. A new drain has been added from the end of the parking area which was prone to the formation of a large puddle after heavy rain. Another surface water drain will feed into this one. A pavement will run from the parking area to the bus stop. This will give pedestrians a pavemented walking route from the bus stop to the booking office (requiring the road to be crossed). A line of fence posts are will guard pedestrians from the slope. Owing to concerns about the stability of the ground at the fence line, tubes will be filled with concrete to ensure a firm base for the fence posts.
In other news (as they say), the frame for the extension to Sheffield Park platform 1 (similar to the one on platform 2) has been fabricated.
