Despite the weather, the rails are being laid

Relaying the main running line of the railway is inevitably restricted to the winter shutdowns. While we are used to cold and often wet weather, snowstorms are far less usual. Fortunately, the one on Wednesday 19th was relatively short lived and the snow did not settle. Good progress was made. On that day and the next, we were assisted by a volunteer team from the Costains HS2 team. By the end of Wednesday, about two thirds of the track had been relayed with the expectation of joining up by the end of the week.
