A few little jobs over the year
Infrastructure Director Tony Astor has listed the achievements of the Infrastructure team over the course of the year as follows:
• Sharpthorne Tunnel track relay
• Installed the reverse Osmosis plant at Sheffield Park
• Re-laid the coping stones on platform 2 at Horsted Keynes
• Repaired the retaining wall on platform 2
• Refurbished the waiting room on platform 1 & 2 at Horsted Keynes
• Built the new disabled loo at Horsted Keynes
• Replaced the below ground drainage on platforms 1 & 2 at Horsted Keynes
• Resurfaced the north end of Platforms 1 & 2 at Horsted Keynes and laid turf
• Installed a gas pipe for future use
• Built new running in boards
• Platform 1 at Horsted Keynes – canopy repairs and new guttering
• New door in OP4 and associated ramps and hand rail
• Received and unloaded 4,000 tonnes of ballast
• Started the Ardingly spur earth works
• Dealt with three major water leaks
• Started the Sheffield park ground frame project
• S&T have begun the fitout preparation for the ground signal
• Re-laid the track in platforms 1 & 2 at Horsted Keynes
• Parapet replacements at Sloop and Holywell bridges
• Black hut track replacement
• Numerous building faults rectified
• The Friends groups have carried out great works at all the stations
• The lineside gangs have kept 22 miles of trackbed looking great
• The S&T teams have attended and rectified many signals faults
We are looking forward to a busy 2026.
