Boiler lift takes place
On 10 April, as seen in Melvin Frohnsdorff’s photo, ‘Normandy’ was wheeled out of Atlantic House, and its boiler lifted.
Dismantling the locomotive, including lifting out the boiler, is always a key stage in any overhaul; the boiler can now be properly inspected to determine what repairs, beyond the mandatory replacement of boiler tubes, will be required.
