SteamLights is back once again for 2026, and tickets are now available to purchase online!
This year we’re bringing the immersive narrative of “Somewhere over the Rainbow”.
On arrival, at Sheffield Park Station, enjoy the station entrance, which will be showered with rainbow festive illuminated lights, perfect for a photo opportunity! Then spill onto the platform and enjoy the station facilities, grab a meal or drink from the café, and have a look at the shop.
“The Good Witch” is your host for the night, first with a meet-and-greet followed by a switch-on ceremony as she summons the magic of the rainbow to light the train. After you’ve boarded, we travel down the line on a steam train. From the window, you’ll get to admire colourful, bright and abundant lineside displays. As the train slowly chugs along, the illuminated lineside displays are set against the winter countryside, while you remain warm and cosy onboard and can listen to a narrated story and music played in each carriage.
The lineside displays this year are based on the four seasons; winter, spring, summer and autumn; Before the seasons all fuse together to create a… rainbow! The train then travel up the rainbow to discover… a pot of gold?! The story is beautifully narrated by, the Good Witch. We then arrive at Horsted Keynes for a short while, where you can remain on the train or explore the platform and purchase a hot drink or snack. All the while the engine uncouples and then reattaches, this is also a fun moment to watch! As you return to Sheffield Park, enjoy a second chance to sparkle through the countryside and view the festive scenes you may have missed the first time.
Each year, we change the theme, which means that this year, Santa will NOT be making an appearance at Steamlights. Instead, we’re excited to welcome Linda, the Good Witch, as our switch-on performer, as we step into Rainbow Land.
All videos/photos are from past Steamlights events, where the theme was different. This is NOT a traditionally festive event. It is a wholesome, lovely family event that can be enjoyed during the festive period but is not traditionally festive. Should you wish for a more festive event, please book onto our Santa specials. Please ensure you’ve read all of this before booking.
