Information about the Friends of Kingscote
The photograph here shows many of the current working volunteers just before we sat down for our annual Christmas lunch in the Booking Hall. We have approximately 20 working volunteers and another 100 supporting members from around the country who provide financial support and help.
If you would like more information please download our background information sheet and membership form here or visit our display in the red PMV historical display wagon in the Goods Yard.
We undertake a number of maintenance tasks in and around the station. We look after the gardens, the lineside areas North and South of the station, general repairs and decoration around the Station. We normally work on a Tuesday, with some people assisting on a Saturday too.

Gardens
The gardeners work hard to maintain the platform borders, picnic area and associated station areas. They set the scene for this picturesque station.

Lineside
Clearance of the lineside areas and minor repairs to fences and crossing points goes on throughout the year. Very much an outdoor activity but also an opportunity when trained to work closely with the operational side of the railway.

Station Maintenance
It is not just repair and maintenance; it is also about ensuring that everything looks as historically accurate as possible. A wide range of skills are required. And a huge range of indoor and outdoor tasks are undertaken.
We'd love for you to get involved!
We hope that you might enjoy an active role with us at Kingscote. And if you would like to join as a volunteer in another capacity, then find out more on the website, including current roles available.
