East Grinstead Station

The Bluebell Railway station is built alongside the Southern Station – in fact we are platform 3!

Back in 1960, Bluebell Railway only owned and ran from Sheffield Park to a halt just before Horsted Keynes. But after reconnecting to East Grinstead in 2013, we can welcome engines by rail for special occasions, and passengers can come by mainline train to East Grinstead and walk just one minute along the path to Bluebell Railway.

At East Grinstead, watch the locomotive uncouple then ‘run round’ to the other end of the train and recouple to the carriages.

Car Parking

Our station has parking for Disabled Badge holders only.

Pay and Display parking is available at:

  • Norton House car park (RH19 3JY) on the junction of Station Road and London Road, right next door to the Fire Station. From there it is a short walk of about 8 minutes to the Bluebell Railway.
  • Station car park (RH19 1HS) is situated about a 4 minute walk from the Bluebell Railway.
  • Railway Approach car park (RH19 1BS) is a 3-4 minute walk from our railway station.
  • If you have a little more time, why not park in the town at the Christopher Road car park (RH19 3DJ) or Chequer Mead (RH19 3LY) / The Vicarage (RH19 3BP) car parks by the Theatre and walk through the town to the railway station stopping off at the varied and interesting local shops along the way? The walk will take about 20 minutes (depending upon the time you browse in each of the fascinating shops!)

Travel and platform tickets can be purchased at the booking office on the station concourse, as well as online.

Refreshments

The Grinsteade Buffet is a great place to grab a tea, sandwich or a sweet snack. Contained in an original buffet carriage, the buffet is open every day when train services are running.
